It may have been a long time in the planning, however, London’s most-talked-about-new-shopping-mall-built-from-shipping-containers opened in Shoreditch last week with Dockers® amongst the 60 fashion (including Levi’s®), arts and lifestyle brands. The concept is simple and imaginative. Take 60 standard shipping containers, paint them black and arrange them into a small village of retail outlets on derelict land around Shoreditch station in the deprived borough of Tower Hamlets, offering employment to the local community of youngsters.
The Dockers® brand will open its first retail store in Sweden on November 25. Located within the PK Huset department store mall in Stockholm’s up-market central district, this location was chosen for its growing popularity as a key shopping area for style-conscious Swedes.
For Spring/Summer 2012, Dockers® is going on a journey.Inspired by the resilient, resourceful and hardworking next generation of leaders, the collection is all about men on their life’s journey, bringing together their unique skills, passions and value to the world.
As we move from Spring into early Summer, men’s pants styles will be significantly more tailored. It is all about the slim sleek silhouette.
The Dockers® Khaki pant portfolio this season is loaded with conviction and finished with character. Khaki pants that are unequivocally masculine and separate the men from the boys. Khakis that are built with purpose and built to last. Fits that stand tall and speak clearly to the modern male consumer. There was a time when Khaki took its cue from the denim world employing interesting washes, new fits, good hardware and detailing. That has all changed. Dockers® Khaki pants are now all about new options, variations, fits and finishes.
The Dockers® collection this season is built on the honour and integrity of men who have built their own lives on commitment, conviction and purpose. Ordinary men who work to live and take passion in a job well done. Craftsman and artisans, men who are reinventing what it means to get a job done by doing work they love, work that matters. It is all about creating a legacy to leave to others.
Dockers® is promising something a little more slick and sophisticated this season with the extension of its D-fit pant portfolio, including the D-0 Extra Slim fit pant. Clean cut, simple and unquestionably masculine, it is a retro reminder of when the slim tapered pant first entered our fashion psyche during the 1950s. Dockers® slimmer D-0 and D-1 fits stay true the brand philosophy; simple, uncomplicated, masculine.
Dockers ‘Made in the States’ premium range of Khakis has grown on from last season, ushering in a new era of unwa vering commitment to impeccable crafts manship. Taking inspiration from the us military during WWII, we dug further into creating a genuine and original simple style with complex fabrics.
Dockers® collection for Spring/Summer 2011 isn’t so much inspired by the great American Western Plains of Montana, but rather the expanse high desert of Texas, in particular the city of Marfa. Virtually unspoiled by modern technology, Marfa has become somewhat of a Mecca for those yearning for a simpler, more raw or rugged way of life. A hub for struggling artists, young designers or budding architects, the fact that Marfa played home to the minimalist artist Donald Judd for the last two decades of his life, only amplifies the importance of the place.
